Professor Sir Neil Douglas

It is with deep regret that the Academy learned of the death of its previous chair Professor Sir Neil Douglas on 23 August.

Neil was a professor of respiratory and sleep medicine, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (2004 – 10) then Chairman of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (2009 – 2012).

Neil was instrumental in establishing the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management and was its founding Chairman.

The Academy send its sincere condolences to his family.
