Academy and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society agree Statement of Strategic Intent

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) have agreed a statement of strategic intent that reflects the shared vision that both organisations have to improve patient care and public health and wellbeing through the application of high standards of clinical education and professional practice.

The Academy and RPS are committed to working together in partnership where the opportunity arises and on various workstreams agreed between both organisations as well as supporting the current work of the two organisations where they are complimentary.

Professor Claire Anderson, President of RPS said,
“ I am delighted that RPS and the Academy have agreed to work together in this way. As the professional body for pharmacists and pharmacy in England, Scotland and Wales our mission is to put pharmacy on the forefront of healthcare. By working in close partnership with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges on shared objectives this will further strengthen our position.”

Professor Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard, Chair of the Academy Council said,
“ Doctors and Pharmacists share common objectives in seeking to improve the health of the population. It is absolutely right that we work together, I am delighted to see this partnership between our two representative bodies”

Paul Bennett, RPS CEO said,
“It is clear that we share much the same philosophy with the Academy. Both organisations recognise that a strong professional voice is important not only for the respective professions that they support and represent but also for the benefit of the patients that the professions strive to improve the care of.”

Alastair Henderson, Academy CEO said,
“This a clear public statement of intention to work together collaboratively. That is absolutely the right thing to be doing and we look forward to fruitful engagement with the RPS”
