In response to the proposals for possible changes to NHS legislation, Professor Carrie MacEwen said,
“ The Academy supports the proposed changes to legislation which promote collaboration over competition and remove barriers to effective cooperation and enhance better patient-centred care at local level.
On initial reading the proposals published today by NHS England would seem to do that. We will obviously need to look at the detail of the proposals and make a formal response in due course.
But, we do recognise this as a positive move which will help the NHS deliver the services patients need, and if proposals along these lines were presented to Parliament we hope they would command full support”
