Professor Kate Tatton-Brown to lead Academy genomics education work

The Academy is delighted to announce that Professor Kate Tatton-Brown will be joining us on a part-time secondment basis to lead the genomics education work.  Kate is a well-respected Consultant in Clinical Genetics (St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and Professor in Clinical Genetics and Genomic Education (St George’s, University of London). Her role will be to work with all the medical royal colleges and the Genomics Education Programme at Health Education England to provide clinical input into the design and delivery of the education requirements for all doctors. The work will link to that of other healthcare professionals in order to foster collaborative working across the NHS.

Professor Carrie MacEwen, Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges said,

‘I am delighted we were able to appoint Kate to this role. She brings a wealth of experience and will be instrumental in helping the Academy and its members ensure doctors are able seize the opportunities genomic medicine promises and provide oversight of the way this exciting new field of clinical activity is being implemented across the UK.’
