Professor Dame Sue Bailey, chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges said:
‘We are very pleased that the ‘pause’ has resulted in a proposed agreement between the BMA and the Government. We congratulate all the parties for showing the commitment to reach a solution and thank them and Sir Brendan Barber and the ACAS team for all their hard work. The Academy hopes this leads to a resolution of the dispute for the benefit of patients and the medical profession’
