The Academy is now recruiting for the following role.
The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (the Academy) represents the UK and Ireland’s 24 medical royal colleges and faculties on cross-cutting issues in healthcare. It works closely with government in all four nations as well as all the leading organisations in health to shape and influence policy at the highest levels on a range of issues from the education and training of doctors to the way data and the digital agenda is driving up standards and improving the quality of patient care.
With the recent publication of the Long Term Plan and Interim People Plan setting out a strategic vision for the NHS and its workforce, the Academy is looking for someone to help us ensure the clinical voice is heard on the specific way the medical workforce is configured to meet the challenges of the future across the whole of the UK.
You will ideally, but not necessarily, be from a medical policy or workforce background and be fully conversant with strategic issues around supply, retention and ensuring staff are valued throughout their career. We’re looking for someone who recognises that new ways of working, not just for doctors, but for all those who work in the health sector will be essential if the current and future demand is to be met.
You will have a proven ability when it comes to writing short accurate policy briefs, providing direct advocacy in making the case for change, and analysing data to spot trends and issues in order to support the Academy’s key influencing role. Understanding of and ability to analyse workforce data will be essential. You will have the confidence to engage directly with senior members of the NHS, Arm’s-Length Bodies and the medical profession. Working directly to the Chief Executive and the Academy’s policy lead you will also be working collaboratively with key stakeholders and the Academy’s members’ policy teams to ensure alignment and a united approach to workforce challenges.
The Academy is a modern employer and offers a great working environment, good pay and conditions in a friendly central London office.
At the Academy we strive to ensure everything we do has a positive impact on our members and customers. We encourage a positive, people-focused workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Balancing work and life commitments has never been easier. We understand everyone has different needs and we offer flexible working options.
