We develop, revise and own the intellectual property rights of the Foundation Programme Curriculum.

The Foundation Programme Curriculum (the Curriculum) sets out the framework for educational progression that will support the first two years of professional development following graduation from medical school. It is regularly reviewed and revised by request of the GMC.  The current Curriculum was published in May 2021 and is available on the UKFPO website.

Our work on the Foundation Curriculum is led by Dr Fiona Cameron. For more information on the of the AFPC please contact Jennifer Baldock.

On the 2021 Curriculum, Dr Tony Choules, past Chair of the Academy Foundation Programme Committee and Operational Advisor to the UKFPO said:

The last curriculum was published in 2016 and a lot has happened since then, not least the recent coronavirus pandemic. To remain fit for purpose, the Foundation Programme must evolve with medical practice and training, so our doctors are properly equipped to practice in a range of healthcare setting, now and in the future.”
