Opportunities and support for SAS doctors in colleges and faculties

SAS doctors have a role to play in service provision, the education and training of other staff and also in leadership. However, the GMC survey of SAS/LED doctors highlighted challenges which may be preventing SAS doctors from reaching their full potential and providing the best quality service to patients and staff.

The support and encouragement given to SAS doctors for personal and professional development varies. This may depend on local factors such as access to local SAS Development Funding/Tutor and variations in College-related opportunities and support.

The information in the four sections below is intended to be a resource to colleges and faculties. It highlights areas where SAS doctors experience different types of opportunity and support. It is also a way to share best practice, so that support and development opportunities are open to all doctors regardless of their job title.
