Role of the Senior Scientist

The Role of the Senior Scientist project looks at the potential links between senior healthcare scientists and medical consultants.

The purpose of the project is to produce a consensus statement from the Academy and senior scientists including:

• The Role of the Senior Scientist, and specifically to identify their contribution to clinical care pathways and high quality patient care
• Recommendations involving a range of related employment issues
• Recommendations of the educational outcomes in relation to assessment, that would be appropriate for senior scientists to attain, e.g. RCPath or equivalent in other areas
• Views on revalidation for scientists.

The project  is Chaired by Professor Adian Newland.
