Specialty Training Selection Pilot
In January 2010 the Academy sought doctors’ help in developing a better method of selection into specialty training.
Applicants to ST1 in ACCS, Anaesthetics, General Practice, Histopathology, Medicine, Paediatrics and Psychiatry were asked to try out a short Clinical Problem Solving (CPS) test and Situational Judgement test (SJT), and give their opinions on them, to help the Academy gather evidence for and against their potential use in ST1 selection.
Approximately 700 applicants to ST1 training took part in this research.
The results and recommendations of this research should be available in mid-summer 2010, In time to inform planning for next years recruitment process.
