Medical Education England (MEE) was set up because of professional support for a body that would, in summary, cover medical education and training and workforce planning.
MEE is an Independent Advisory Non-Departmental Public Body with a remit for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and healthcare science.
It aims to provide a coherent professional voice on education and training matters and advises the Department of Health on policy.
MEE provides high-level scrutiny of, and advice on, the quality of workforce planning at national level.
The Academy is a member of MEE and is represented by:
- Professor Dinesh Bhugra
- Mr John Black
- Professor Sir Neil Douglas
- Professor Ian Gilmore
- Professor Steve Field
- Dr Damian Rolland
MEE also provides advice for the Multi Professional Education and Training Levy (MPET). Mr John Black represents the Academy on this work.
