The Academy contributes to postgraduate education and training relating to foundation level, specialty and general practice.

It does this primarily through the work of its education related committees and their associated working groups. These committees identify, co-ordinate and develop generic work of the medical Royal Colleges and Faculties.

The Academy is responsible for four specific education focused committees:

  • Academy Education Committee
  • Academy Assessment Committee
  • Academy Foundation Programme Committee
  • Academy Specialty Training Committee

As well as these four committees, the Academy hosts a Trainee Doctors' Group and the Joint  Academy, COPMeD and COGPeD Training Advisory Group (JACTAG).

It is also a member of the Medical Programme Board and Medical Education England.
