Medical Education England
Medical Education England (MEE) was set up because of professional support for a body that would, in summary, cover medical education and training and workforce planning.
MEE is an Independent Advisory Non-Departmental Public Body with a remit for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and healthcare science.
It aims to provide a coherent professional voice on education and training matters and advises the Department of Health on policy.
MEE provides high-level scrutiny of, and advice on, the quality of workforce planning at national level.
The Academy is a member of MEE and is represented by:
- Dr Peter Nightinglae
- Professor Sir Neil Douglas
- Dr Clare Gerada
- Dr Jane Barrett
Deputies include:
- Sir Richard Thompson
- Professor Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran
- Dr Damian Roland
MEE also provides advice for the Multi Professional Education and Training Levy (MPET).
