The Academy Education Committee (AEC) is the overarching eduction body of the Academy. It identifies strategy, policy and work streams which need to be taken forward in postgraduate medical education and gives guidance and direction on how they will be achieved. It facilitates commonality of approach between the other Acadmey education related committees.
Its main responsibilities are to:
- Oversee and guide postgraduate medical education of the Colleges and Faculties on behalf of the Academy
- Direct and advise, where appropriate, the Academy’s other education related committees
- Facilitate commonality of approach between other Academy Education groups
- Develop strategy informed by the other key stakeholders involved in postgraduate medical education
The Committee is chaired by Professor Dinesh Bhugra, and consists of representatives from:
- Medical Royal Colleges Presidents (3, including the Chair)
- Chair of the Academy Assessment Committee
- Chair of the Academy Foundation Programme Committee
- Chair of the Academy Specialty Training Committee
- Chair of the Academy Trainee Doctors’ Group
- Chair of the Academy Patient Lay Group
- Educationalists from Colleges/Faculties
- COPMeD
- COGPeD
- GMC
